2 months of Serving + 1 day of Celebration in East Austin.




2 months of service goes from Sept. 26 to Thanksgiving. HopeFest Celebration is on Oct. 26 from 9:30 am-3 pm.




HopeFest Celebration is at Reagan High School (click here for directions). Service area is 2 mile radius around Reagan in northeast Austin.




HopeFest is sponsored by churches and organizations all over Austin. To learn more, click here.


 

How to Help




We need:


1. Gently used children’s books

2. Gently used children’s clothing (ages 0-11)

3. New children’s bicycles

4. Used cribs and strollers (in good condition).



We are also looking for business partners and sponsors who can help with food or other donations for the HopeFest celebration.

1. Hundreds of volunteers are  needed for the HopeFest celebration on Oct. 26.


2. We are looking for church groups to take on a service project in partnership with an east Austin church, school or other organization.


3. Join in one of the planned prayer walks in the service area.

How to Volunteer

Here are 4 ways you can volunteer:


1.  Volunteer for the HopeFest Celebration:


  1. Supervise children’s events

  2. Serve Food

  3. Help with the Children’s Clothes Swap (lots of hands needed!)

  4. Give out flyers prior to event day on October 20

  5. Help distribute lunch

  6. Help with the information fairs

  7. Set up/Clean up

  8. Prayerwalk

We are also looking for:

  1. Face Painters and Clowns

  2. Extreme Sports demonstration

  3. Musicians for kids

2. Participate in community service projects before and after HopeFest:


From September 26 to Thanksgiving, churches throughout Austin will join in “Sixty Day of Service” in northeast Austin (see map). Our goal is to bless the teachers, pastors, police and many others who work hard to help others every day in this area.


Here are some examples of what you can do:


  1. Hold a “teacher appreciation” breakfast at one of the local schools

Hold a clothing drive for one of the local community center clothes closets

Bring your youth group together with one from an area African-American or Hispanic church for an evening of fun

Join together with a local neighborhood association clean-up

“Prayer Walk” a local school, apartment complex or neighborhood

Help Reagan High School organize a “Career Day.”

Hold a children’s book or clothing drive at you church for HopeFest.


It’s easy to take part! Simply write hopefest@austin.rr.com or call 653-4935 to arrange a project.


3. Provide items needed for HopeFest:


We’re looking for churches who will collect any of the following items to give away at HopeFest:


1.Gently used children’s books

2.Gently used children’s clothing for clothes swap (birth through grade 5)

3.  New children’s bicycles

4.  Used cribs and strollers (in good condition)

4. Provide additional funds for HopeFest:


HopeFest is supported completely by local churches and community groups. It takes approximately $12,000 to provide for families at HopeFest. Any contribution is appreciated!
